So you been diving a few times and seen some wonderful looking fish…now what? Keep the excitement going and get introduced to many activities you can do while diving on the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course.
The seas around Thailand are well known to be one of the best diving locations in the world. The warm clear waters give you an amazing view of the underwater world filled with thousands of different species of awe inspiring nature below. We cannot think of a more perfect location to learn and advance your scuba diving skills than in Koh Samui and Koh Tao.
In the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course you will learn and explore 5 diving specialities that help you get the most out of scuba diving. There’s so much more to do under the water than just looking at the fish! And each speciality will develop your expertise and make you a better diver.
The deep diving and navigation specialities form the compulsory part of the Advanced Open Water course. Deep diving involves a dive of up to 30 meters below sea level which is an amazing experience. The navigation speciality involves teaching you how to find your way under water, with or without the aid of a compass. This is an essential skill when planning a dive and getting the most out of your time.
You are then required to supplement your Advanced Open Water Diver course by choosing 3 additional specialities. Popular specialities include:
The course starts off with studying you chosen specialities in the Advanced Open Water book. Unlike the Open Water course, there’s no exam but there are questions at the end of the speciality sections you need to answer. Your PADI instructor will run through all the theory with you to ensure you’ve absorbed the information you need before heading out on the boat.
Each of the 5 dives will involve putting theory into practise by executing the skills and following the procedures as described. Your instructor will of course brief you on all the equipment and everything you will prior to each dive.
You don’t need to bring your own equipment as all of this is supplied for you on the PADI Advanced Open Water course, except where special equipment may need to be rented. A traditional Thai buffet lunch is provided both days you are on the boat.
