Namuang Safari Park

1 Flares 1 Flares ×

Namaung Safari Park on the island of Koh Samui couples fun with fun in an action packed day out for all the family. Their sightseeing and safari trips include hotel pick ups and a tour of all the popular sights and we assure you that our island safari tours will be fun, safe and interesting with our professional safari guide team.

If you want a crash course introduction to Koh Samui, Namuang Safari Park’s sightseeing tours and safaris could be just the thing; get introduced to the island’s culture and wildlife in just a day or less.

Namuang Safari Park has several tours available:

  • Program A: Mountain 4×4 Sightseeing & Safari Tour – Full Day
  • Program B: Exclusive Safari Tour – Half Day
  • Program C: 5 Wildlife Variety Shows – Half Day

The full day program includes a stop at the Big Buddha, Koh Samui’s most famous landmark; a 15 metre high golden statue in the grounds of Phra Yai temple, which has been seen by visitors from all over the world. Visible from several kilometers away and even from the air or boat when arriving on or leaving the island, the 12 meter tall golden image stands proud.

As well as that, on your adventure packed day you can travel to the south of Lamai beach to see the famous Grandmother and Grandfather rocks (Hin Ta & Hin Yai) that are spectacularly rude natural formations, that have been shaped over millions of years by wind and water. Flagged by a charming market, selling local crafts and delicacies including coconut caramel for which Samui is famous for in Thailand. Because of their shape, the rocks are seen as strong fertility symbols and said to be the origin of the ‘Mui’ peoples. Apparently, the positive vibrations & good energy from these rocks will help women conceive.

You’ll then take the excitement on to the Khunaram Temple to see the remarkable mummified monk, the only mummy we have ever seen that wears sunglasses! Luong Por Daeng was a highly respected monk when he died over 35 years ago. A native of Koh Samui he enjoyed a long prosperous family life until he was 50 years old when he decides to devote the last part of his life to the monk hood. After being ordained in 1944, he became renown for his meditation practice for about 20 years. He was also able to foresee his own death in 1973 when he was 79 years old. Today, he can still be seen in the exact same meditative position he was in when he died.

No safari in Thailand is complete without elephant trekking – it’s the best part! Some of the island’s dense jungle can only be accessed by elephant. Their feet are specially adapted for jungle surfaces, on which they are ever so sure-footed, so sit back and enjoy the silent ride. Our elephant trekking at Namuang Safari Park will take you through the Samui jungle on the way to Namuang waterfall.

Along the way you can enjoy the scenery and see some of the local wildlife, giving you a unique birds eye view of the amazing tropical rainforest scenery. You’ll also have a photograph opportunity with an elephant to commemorate the occasion, but getting an elephant to smile is something we still working on!

Only reachable on foot or by elephant, Namuang waterfall is Koh Samui’s most beautiful, largest and most impressive waterfall, with stunning rock formations and verdant surroundings bathed in a brilliant natural light. Consisting of two separate falls, one with a 20m drop and a good pool for swimming and the other with an 80m drop.

As well as elephants, among the other animals you can get up close and personal with at Namuang Safari Park are working coconut monkeys, who’ll be happy to retrieve only the ripest coconut from the tree. On Koh Samui, the monkey was greatly prized and undoubtedly qualified as man’s best friend. This isn’t surprising, since for centuries people have trained monkeys to do the hardest part of the coconut harvest, climbing to the trees to pick ripe coconut. Koh Samui is synonymous with coconut trees; there are plantations all over the island and until the advent of tourism, coconuts represented the main industry in Koh Samui.

You’ll also have the opportunity to see an exciting crocodile show, where the crocodile trainers show you these prehistoric beasts in and out of the pool. The highlight of the show is when a volunteer puts their head into the open mouth of a crocodile! You can also see some lovely baby elephants performing some clever tricks at Namuang Safari Park.

If you take the 4×4 mountain trip, you’ll visit the highest and most breathtaking view point, Yaod Khao, which is 680 meters up! This viewpoint can only be reached by a professional, all-terrain 4×4 vehicle. From here you can see Koh Samui from north to south, surrounding islands, spectacular views of Ang Thong National Marine Park to the west and the mainland to the south. There you’ll see Dipterocarpacae, a huge tree thought to be over 500 years old.

As with all the tours lunch is included at the Namaung Safari Park, giving you the chance to sample some exquisite traditional Thai food and freshly picked fruits.

As you can tell, the Namuang Safari Park offers endless possibilities for entertaining your party. If you are looking for a day that’s filled with energy this is an ideal destination. So don’t delay, book your excursion with Samuipedia before you leave home so you know that everything is sorted.
