All buses to Khao Sok are comfortable and air-conditioned and have all the usual facilities. The journey starts with a short trip to the car ferry port, where the ferry will cross over to the mainland port town of Donsak in the province of Surat Thani. You will board the ferry separately from the bus and then reconvene at the other end. The car ferry takes around 90 minutes and has plenty of seating and space to walk around. There will be at least 1 cabin that has air conditioning, a large outside area and it will have toilet facilities, a decent shop for buying food & drinks and in some cases even a massage service. The ferries are quite having frequent rigorous checks by the Thai Navy and being very large, they are stable in the roughest sea conditions. We still advise suffers of sea sickness to take their medicine at least 20 minutes prior to departure.
Once in Donsak, the service will continue to Surat Thani city bus station about 80 minutes away, where you will change bus for the remainder of the journey to Khao Sok. You will have around 30 minutes, which is plenty of time and will provide another opportunity to once again stretch your legs and buy any snacks or drinks. The remainder of the journey will be about 3 hours.
